I’ve been to many weddings in the function ballrooms at Thaba Eco Hotel and loved the setting with nature as a backdrop.
Kraal Kombuis- Thaba Ya Batswana was the restaurant inside this beautiful venue. I was spoilt to a substantial brunch which consisted of a variety of fresh pastries and ‘out-of-the-oven’ croissants to start…
The delectable menu was elaborated with detailed descriptions of each course which tickled the imagination as the ingredients were carefully combined and not your usual breakfast offering…
To continue, I was served with a shot glass of Chai tea cooked Quinoa apple, topped with yoghurt, honey, berry compote, peanut butter & pecan nuts. This was accompanied by Nutella filled french toast with strawberries and flaked almonds which tasted divine!
The Main Selection was a combination of flavours and included ricotta cheese, smoked salmon, caramelised onions on sourdough bread topped with maltaise and wild rocket. As this was not all, a skewer of large button mushrooms were served with tomatoes and beef sausages!
What a treat! The cappuccinos were perfect for the cold weather and the burning fireplace made the dining experience cozy and intimate!
Absolutely loved the service as management and staff were very friendly & attentive. Much enthusiasm and genuine quality attitudes makes this place a place worth experiencing again…
Ian and I would like to thank you all at Thaba Hotel especially at the Oukraal Restaurant for the wonderful evening on our 25th anniversary, the tables arrangement worked well, the chairs looked beautiful with the ribbon on, the tables looked beautiful and the waiters where helpful and alert to all our dinner guest needs. The chef and his team served the most wonder and delicious dinner meals, I’m still receiving calls expressing their thanks for the delicious food they were served. My Mom and Dad have expressed their appreciation for extra special meals prepared separately for them which they thoroughly enjoyed. Last but not least, thank you to you Kim for all your assistance and arrangements in making this an evening we will not forget.

We had a wonderful birthday party and I think everyone – especially Tyla – enjoyed it a lot !!!
Thank you for all your help, advice and personal service. You (personally) instil a great deal of confidence in Thaba’s ability to provide a wonderful party and your professionalism was greatly appreciated and dealing with you was an absolute pleasure. You did a wonderful job.
Feedback on the evening : the venue looked great – just like Tyla imagined it. Wonder was very helpful and professional (as was Peter earlier in the day)– even though we started off a half an hour late, he was accommodating. When one of the waiters dropped a whole tray of welcome drinks – he was calm and sorted it out quickly.
DJ – was a new one that Barry used (? Mike –I think) but he was very good, understood the mood of the guests and adapted the music as we went along and kept a good mix of songs. We danced ourselves silly !
Cake arrived on time and looked beautiful. Apparently tasted good also (I still haven’t had a piece). It cost R1400 and was a fairly standard 2 tiered cake. I think as prices go up, the allocation of R600 for a cake may need to be adjusted somewhat.
Food was divine and it was nice to see Natasha the chef. Everyone commented on the delicious food. Only negative feedback may be that starter portions were on the small side – only one piece of Haloumi and one smallish spoon of Prawn & calamari each. You could see everyone was looking around for a little more !! The deserts were a real hit – and the Chocolate fountain was a good idea and went down well with young and old.
Bar and barmen were very good. Waiters – also generally good. Some of the men complained that the selection of beer was somewhat limited – but they didn’t complain for long !!
Only issue I had was with the Photographer – she arrived quite late (after 6:30 –I think – and she had told Tyla she would be there by 5:30 ?!?) and she didn’t get (m)any shots of the guests arriving – most were already there when she arrived –so that was a pity. We don’t have the photo’s back yet – so I can’t comment on the quality of them yet – hope they arrive soon and are good !
Rooms /reception etc were all top notch. Breakfast the next day was also very pleasant.
All in all – I would not hesitate to recommend Thaba Eco hotel –and you in particular -to anyone considering a party / wedding.

Baie baie dankie vir die ongelooflike heerlike naweek saam met julle. Dit was vir ons onbeskryflik lekker. Die kleinkinders het dit vreeslik geniet by die leeus en die swembad. Kan julle glo met al die reen het hulle tussenin 2 maal gezwem. Ons het die pragtige tuine so ingeadem en het groot waardeering vir al die personeel wat soveel moeite doen om die tuine so pragtig te maak. Malcolm se “ecowalk” was uit die boonste rakke en ek dink hy is ñ groot aanwins vir Thaba Ya Batswana. So lief vir die natuur en dit kom uit in sy werk. Die kos was ongelooflik lekker. Ons komplimente aan julle puik shef. Die kamers is pragtig versier en heerlik om in vars skoon lakens in te sak en heerlik rustig te slaap wetende daar is veiligheidswagte wat ons oppas. Nee voorwaar kon ek nie vir ñ beter kompetisie ingeskryf het en gewen het nie.! Baie dankie weleens. Mag die Here Thaba Ya Batswana ryklik seën en beloon vir alles wat hulle bydra tot bewaring van Sy Skepping. Baie geluk aan ñ puik span en puik organisasie. Ons sien julle sommer gou weer.

All our guests were “over the moon” with the food, setting, accommodation and our launch – some of which have stated that it’s been the best launch they have ever attended.

Thaba’s staff really rose to the occasion. Taryn at reception found a staff member with jumper cables and they tried to jump start my car. My battery was really flat and I needed to buy a new one. She then called round for me to find a battery center/service. In the mean time, another staff member Rogan, helped me remove my battery to have it replaced. Die eenhede is ongelooflik grand en bevat ALLES wat ‘n traveller nodig het – tot ‘n flitslig, Peaceful sleep en Doom. Die kamers is super smart en enorm. Die badkamer is groot genoeg om in te dans! Op aankoms wag ‘n heerlike bottel rooi wyn en vrugte vir jou. Die koffie, ens is meer as genoeg met koekies. Hulle het tot ‘n I-Pod stand met speakers. Die beste van als is dat jy die vensters van hoek tot kant kan oopmaak vir vars lug en net so slaap en die bos voor jou sien. (Ek is mos ‘n Kapenaar en soek die vars lug (van die see) permanent). Dis net die goggas en muskiete wat gepla het. Dalk kan ek voorstel dat hulle dit oorweeg om nette voor die vensters te installeer. Dit sal seker die enigste klagte wees as ek mag kla. Hulle “attention to detail” is meer as 5 ster – en onthou, ek het al oral gebly en kan met gemak sê dat nie een plek waar ek al gebly het kan kompeteer met Thaba nie. Die ongelooflike tuin en bos uitlegte het soveel detail met hulle potte en watervalletjies voor elke eenheid. Ek gaan probeer om Aurecon se Marketing Bestuurder te oorreed om een aand daar te gaan oorbly. Hy is nog op honeymoon! – en hy reel al ons Global en local events, bv conferences, bosberade, ens. Hy bly in Gauteng. Hulle is ook so baie behulpsaam en professioneel, ag ek kan doodeenvoudig niks verkeerd sien van Thaba nie en kannie wag om weer daar te gaan bly nie. Hulle pryse is ook baie, baie goed (R1300,00 pp per nag B&B) en ek hoop hulle hou dit so. Ek moes Dinsdagaand noodgedwonge in OR Tambo City Lodge oorbly teen R1100,00 pp per nag. Geen room service, bar, ens nie en die kamers was super flou met ‘n klein plastic showertjie. Geen koekies of enigiets nie!
